Searching for Members

Enter your search term(s) in the search box. Searches are case-insensitive: a search for JOE JONES will retrieve the same results as a search for Joe Jones or joe jones.

Next, select the field in which you wish to search. Membership information is divided into three categories: Name, Address, and Resource Area.

Search by Name

To search the name field, enter your search term(s) and click on search. You can leave the search options box in the default "Name" position.

NOTE: If you search for someone by their name using the "exact phrase" search type, it must match the name exactly. Joe Jones will not match Joe J. Jones.

Search by Address

The address field contains the member's country of residence and email address.

If you are looking up members by their address, click on the arrow to the left of "Name" and choose "Address".

For example, if you would like to see all members who live in a particular country, then type the country name in the search box and select "Address" in the field box to the right of the search box.

Search by Resource Area

To look up members by their area of research, select Resource Area.

The Resource Area may include a brief statement from the member about their research interests, as well as a research area subject code. The following codes are used in this system:

AGRO PAST AGROPASTORALISM
ATM ATMOSPHERE
BIO BIODIVERSITY
COAST COASTAL
CULT CULTIVATION

FORE FORESTS
FISH FISHERIES
GRAZ GRAIZING
HERI HERITAGE

Search Method

The default search method is to search any of these words. This means that if you type in more than one word in the search box, results will include all records for which any of your search terms appear.

For example, if you type in: USA Indonesia and select field type Address your results will include records in which USA or Indonesia appear in the members' address information.

If you want to limit your search results to records in which all the search terms appear, change the default search method to All of these words. For example, a search for Joe Jones in the Name field using method All of these words your search would only retrieve those records in which both Joe and Jones appear in the name field.

To search for an exact phrase, select the Exact Phrase search method. Searching for Jones,Joe using this method would retrieve Joe Jones but not Joe J. Jones or Jones Joe.
